The Manor House School Nursery, located in Bookham, Surrey, is a hidden gem, nestled in seventeen acres of magical gardens, woodlands and sports fields, it is a wonderful and safe place for children’s educational journeys to begin.
The setting has so much to offer and contribute to a child’s physical, social and cognitive development. It is an environment that enables children to learn and grow in a vibrant and happy atmosphere. The children participate in lots of activities to develop their essential skills such as numeracy, problem solving, communication, language and literacy which are all designed to build a solid cognitive foundation in a way that is fun and effective.
Life in Nursery is a learning journey with exploration and carefully planned activities. The children love to learn and take advantage of our varied curriculum, which incorporates Music, French, PE, and Forest School lessons with our specialist teachers from Manor House School. We also offer a range of extra curricula activities for the children to enjoy including football, ballet, tennis and balance bike.
The Nursery is very much part of the Manor House School community, which comprises a co-educational Lower Prep Department and an Upper Prep School and Senior School for girl. Young children really benefit from being part of the wider School for their learning and development. Being part of the School enables the children to participate in events with the older children, such as Sports Day, the Nativity performance and Theme Week. The school prefects are excellent role models for the younger children. They visit the Nursery several times a week to spend time with the Nursery children and are always enthusiastic about getting involved with the various activities taking place and immersing themselves in the children’s play.
As a through-school, The Director of Nursery Education, Ms Luke understands how important it is to ensure the children have a smooth transition to their next stage of learning in Reception. They have many opportunities throughout the academic year to visit the Reception classroom and get to know their future teacher. Of course, the children’s happiness and security is extremely important, and the Manor House School Nursery is committed to providing children with the best possible start to their education and ensuring their smooth transition to the main School.
